One of the main reasons for the visit of Brother Superior General Armin Luistro to the District was to attend the official celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of St Cassian’s, Kintbury.

The Five Core Principles are very much at the heart of life in De La Salle College Waterford as recent events and initiatives have highlighted once again.

Students at Stella Maris Junior School were treated to many experiences as enjoyed a Eucharistic Celebration, explored the theme of peace, celebrated Animal Awareness Week and ADHD Day, among other initiatives.

St Peter’s Catholic School opened their Chapel doors to parents and carers for a new initiative ‘Exploring Together’. In an increasing secular world, sharing our faith, encouraging young people and keeping them excited about their faith can be a challenge for us all.

Every year in October, all the schools across the North Staffs Deanery gather together for the Combined Schools Mass and once again St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy was present.

Students at St Illtyd’s Catholic High School are never short of very interesting activities and the past few weeks saw them broaden their horizons by experiencing STEM projects, sailing, and Reach for the Sky, while teachers took part in an ultra-marathon.

On Wednesday October 16th, the students and Lay Chaplain of Downside School, alongside a group of St Gregory’s students and Lay Chaplain, Matt Robinson, led a day dedicated to training and encouraging those involved with Chaplaincy in our Camino primary schools. 

Students at St Gerald’s De La Salle College in Castlebar once again displayed how they live the Lasallian Core Principles with a number of activities in recent weeks.

It has been a very busy few weeks for the team at St Cassian’s. In between our last few weeks of team training, the Centre has also been running retreats for Albert the Great, St. Augustine’s Trowbridge, St. Joe’s Reading, St. Paul’s Milton Keynes and the Salesians! 

At St. Benild School we start off the day early morning prior to the commencement of lesson time with a quiet moment of reflection and prayer. This might be the only 'quiet' moment of the morning.

In 2025 Lasallian Projects is sponsoring a building in Kenya at Abossi, site of our 2023 and 2024 projects. As in 2023, we are opening up participation in this project to teachers (and family or others) who would like to have experience of the developing world.

At the La Salle Retreat Centre in Dublin, the first half of this first term of the 2024/2025 academic year has seen an unprecedented interest in our Glendalough retreat and pilgrimage.

Students and staff at De La Salle College Senior School had another busy month with many activities that see them live the Lasallian values.

The Pastoral Centre in Belfast is up and running with a busy start again this year. The team has enjoyed facilitating retreats for Year 8 (11/12 year olds), Year 11 (14/15 year olds) Year 12 (15/16 year olds) and Year 14 (17/18 year olds) students.

On Tuesday October 8th members of the Lasallian Family in the District were invited to support the American football team from De La Salle High School, Concord, California

The District of Ireland, Great Britain & Malta congratulates Heather Ruple Gilson on the publication of her work, MEL Bulletin 61, Lasallian Women: Leaven for the Journey of Association for Mission.

Brother Superior Armin Luistro was once again the guest at the District Ministry Leaders Conference in Castletown on Thursday October 17th.

Day three of the visit involved a cross over between Student Leadership Programmed and the Ministry Leaders Conference, highlighting the rich diversity in the District and how we are all working together to nurture and sustain the Mission.

The events to celebrate the visit of Brother Superior Armin Luistro to the District of Ireland, Great Britain and Malta, continued on Tuesday October 15^th at Castletown.

The day began with the Irish Brothers welcoming Br Armin to a special service of faith and fraternity at Miguel House and also saw the commencement of the Lasallian Student Leadership programme organised by MEL Ireland and led by Jason Poole.
