Student leaders show that the Lasallian Mission is in safe hands
The events to celebrate the visit of Brother Superior Armin Luistro to the District of Ireland, Great Britain and Malta, continued on Tuesday October 15th at Castletown.
The day began with the Irish Brothers welcoming Br Armin to a special service of faith and fraternity at Miguel House.
Tuesday also saw the commencement of the Lasallian Student Leadership programme organised by MEL Ireland and led by Jason Poole.
Students from eight schools in Ireland gathered with great enthusiasm and their contributions illustrated once again the strength of the Mission across out District.
The day began with prayers before Director of Formation, Pat Walsh, delivered a session on Servant Leadership. Pat reminded the students that they are all good leaders in their own right as they have the power to influence others.
He added that servant leadership is all about how you serve others and that one of the key elements of this is the ability to listen.
After lunch, Br Tommy Walsh, provided a very engaging presentation on the Lasallian Core Principles, and how the students can live and share them in their own schools and communities.
Aidan McGuinness then developed the idea of listening as part of effective communication. A number of activities and group work contributed to an energetic session that saw the students continue to mix and learn from each other.
Before dinner the students gathered to prepare for their meeting with Br Armin the following morning and they displayed their leadership qualities by volunteering for the various jobs required.
The young Lasallians were in for a special treat after dinner when, under the guidance of Br Ben Hanlon, they learned the One La Salle song.
