Educators at St Benild had a wonderful opportunity to ‘count their blessings’ and connect with eachother at a live-in at the Lasallian Retreat Centre in Mellieha

De La Salle College Churchtown are pleased to announce that starting next year, they will be implementing an innovative solution to address the concerns surrounding excessive smartphone use during school hours.

Oodles of fine bone china, linen napkins, candlesticks, lamps and a desire to further involve our community in our school; what can we do to combine all these? The answer; have a vintage afternoon tea party for De La Salle College Churchtown’s local residents.

The District of Ireland, Great Britain and Malta was very well represented at a very significant conference in Rome in April on Women in the Lasallian Family.

St Gerald’s De La Salle College celebrated their Lasallian spirit as we welcomed Br Tom Walsh, DLS Waterford, his colleague Tom O’Neill and past pupil of SGC, Ernie Sweeney, on Thursday 27th April.

The strength, enthusiasm and passion of the Lasallian Family in the District of Ireland, Great Britain and Malta was highlighted once again with a series of celebrations to mark Founder’s Day.

Students in Beneavin De La Salle College celebrated Founder’s Day in fitting style by learning more about St John Baptist de La Salle and also recognising students who display the Lasallian values.

Students from De La Salle College Waterford are no strangers to national success and once again they have by taking part in the Gaisce Awards and also enjoying success at chess.

Students at De La Salle School St Helens have once again illustrated their concern for the environment as the Eco School committee has been active at at Mock UN Climate conference and during Earth Week.

Transition Year students at Ard Scoil La Salle Raheny completed their @worldwise_global_schools action project. Students focused on restoring and promoting biodiversity on our school grounds.

Our school is very proud of our third year student Mathew Brennan who spoke on the ‘Upfront with Katie Hannon’ show on RTE 1 recently.

Br. John Deeney has shared the final installment of his series of raps on De La Salle. From 1705 the Brothers had been active in Rouen. In 1715 de La Salle finally settled into the Institute’s headquarters there. He died at St Yon on Good Friday 1719.

Downpatrick High School’s Year 9 soccer team took part in the De La Salle Cup, an annual tournament featuring Lasallian schools from the North and South of Ireland. The venue was the renowned Cherry Orchard FC, Dublin.

On May 16, De La Salle Sixth Form held its annual Sportsfest & Charity Day, a day filled with sportsmanship. Students united to make a difference and support a great cause while enjoying thrilling sports activities. Money was collected for a local children's residential home. 

As the school term comes to a close, the team at Castletown Retreat Centre give thanks for the many visitors over the past year.

The Community at Castletown have enjoyed many highlights over the past few weeks and Br. Albert O’Driscoll has reflected on some of those event and visitors.

The retreat team at St. John's, Ballyfermot, are enjoying a very busy summer term with many school groups availing of our Glendalough Pilgrimage.

At St Margaret Ward, we had our last residential retreat of the year, where 30 students and staff visited the Castlerigg Retreat centre in the Lake District. The students explored the theme of ‘Growth’.
