Sixth Form students making a difference to community

On May 16, De La Salle Sixth Form held its annual Sportsfest & Charity Day, a day filled with sportsmanship. Students united to make a difference and support a great cause while enjoying thrilling sports activities. Money was collected for a local children's residential home.

 Trip to Italian Alps

After a three-year absence, (due to COVID-19), this year, De La Salle Sixth Form students returned to the Italian Alps. Before the excursion, the outdoor group followed a local training programme that included hikes, lectures, workshops, and seminars.

The excursion itself was part of an Outdoor Education course that allows students to work together and discover new localities around our islands, learn important outdoor techniques, improve their resilience, and discover new environments overseas that are not possible to experience locally.

Apart from hiking and spending four nights in a refuge at 1800m, the group organised tours in Milan, Bergamo and Lecco, where a trip on Lake Lecco kicked off the Alpine Adventure. To reach the refuge, the group travelled from Lecco to Moggio, took a cable car up to an altitude of 1650m and then walked up the rest of way while admiring peaks and valleys.

Apart from hiking, all team members took an active part in delivering workshops, discussions and team building tasks. The themes included in the programme were all related to outdoor education, travelling, the environment, and human resilience. On the way back, students enjoyed half a day of sightseeing in the city of Milan.

De La Salle Sixth Form has been organising this Outdoor Education course since 2013
