Matthew does Macroom school proud once again

Our school is very proud of our third year student Mathew Brennan who spoke on the ‘Upfront with Katie Hannon’ show recently.

Mathew spoke from the audience about the pressures on young people today and referred specifically to the heavy school work load on students in today’s world. His comments were part of a wider debate on the show about mental health and mobile phone usage.

This was Mathew’s second time taking part in a RTE current affairs TV programme. Last October he was a member of the audience at the Prime Time Budget special. Mathew’s participation in these current affairs programmes is prompted by his keen interest in politics and current affairs.

He is a fantastic spokesperson for our school and we are sure he has many more contributions to make to Irish politics in the future.

Farwell to Leaving Cert class

Friday May 19th marked the last day of school for our Leaving Cert Class of 2023. Over the past six years these young men have been a group of outstanding character. They were diligent, focused, attentive, engaged in every class and walked out the door every day with a smile saying thank you.

They have made great friendships and have found lifelong friends in one another we are sure. They were a notably kind and funny year, full of characters, and as a staff we will really miss them. We wish them the very best of luck in their exams in June, and wish them all the best in their future.

They finished off the day today with a soccer tournament and food kindly provided by Vals Takeaway. A thank you to Mr. Shane Ryan and Ms. Dunne for organising it. They completed the year with a graduation Mass on Tuesday May 23.
