On October 6th there was a ceremony for our new prefects for 2022/23 in the De La Salle Hall in Beneavin De La Salle College. The Lasallian Prefects in the college have a very important role to play as they are role models to other students.

Members of the 1719 Society in De La Salle School, St Helens, have been very active over the past few weeks, with events including the Reading Buddies programme, helping students with public speaking, and also using the World Cup to raise money for a local Food Bank.

Many interesting Activities were held at St. Benild School, Malta in the month of November with students and staff benefitting from some wonderful experiences, including ‘A Celebration of Life’.

Preparations for the Second District Mission Assembly are continuing to gather pace with a number of significant developments over recent weeks.

At the recent Student Leadership Programme, the Lasallian Competition for 2022/23 was launched by the MEL Committee Ireland and a letter has been sent to all Principals calling on their school to take part.

On Tuesday 11th Oct 2022 and Thursday 13 Oct 20022 De La Salle High School Downpatrick and Blackwater IC held a 'Science and Conservation in our Community' Shared Education Field Trip to Strangford Lough, Castleward.

It has been a busy few months for the Castletown Community in Co Laois, including the arrival of two Brothers.

There was great sadness throughout the District and in the wider Lasallian family following the death of Br. David O’Riordan. Br David, a native of Co Limerick, passed away at Miguel House on Sunday October 2nd at the age of 92.

All in St. Stephen's BNS Waterford were absolutely delighted to witness the official opening of Lasallian House on Friday, October 14th, 2022.

The Pastoral Centres in Ireland held a Staff Retreat Day in the De Salle Retreat Centre Dublin at St John’s House, Ballyfermot, on Friday October 21st.

Sam Cantillon, Chaplain at De La Salle School, St Helens, returned home from a trip to Rome with members of the school’s 1719 Society and was moved to share the sense of community and ‘home’ that she felt as part of the Lasallian network.

Students from the 1719 Society in St Helens recently returned from a memorable trip to Rome where they visited the Generalate, a Lasallian School, St Peter’s Basilica and also had time for a tour of the city.

St John’s Community, St Helens, is mourning the loss of Br. Matthew Sasse and Br. Anthony Brunning who both passed away this month.
