Pastoral Centre teams explore many ideas at staff retreat day

The Pastoral Centres in Ireland held a Staff Retreat Day in the De Salle Retreat Centre Dublin at St John’s House, Ballyfermot, on Friday October 21st.

In attendance were Eugene, Yvonne and Conor from Retreat Centre Dublin, Margaret and Maura from De La Salle Retreat Centre Belfast, and Derek, Marie and Micheál from De La Salle Retreat Centre Castletown.

The opening prayer was led by Eugene, during which the group had a special mention for their absent colleague, Kerry from Belfast, following the passing of her husband.

The retreat was led by Pastoral Centres director, Br. Martin Curran, who chose to reflect on the ideas of ‘Solidarity’ and ‘Critical Thinking and Interiority’ as outlined in the publication, ‘Declaration on the Lasallian Educational Mission’.

Over two morning sessions, the group read passages from the publication before discussing how the ideas and questions were relevant to their work with young people as Lasallians.

Br Martin concluded by thanking all for their efforts and reminded the group that there is a lot of great work being done in allowing young people to talk openly. He encouraged them all to continue as their work is very beneficial to young people.

The next group meetings were arranged for Wednesday June 27th, 2023, in Castletown and October 20th, 2023, in Dublin.

The retreat concluded with prayer and reflection led by the Castletown team.
