Summer Camp is highlight at St Stephen’s
In July of this year St. Stephen’s De La Salle Waterford held their annual summer camp. The camp is an action and fun packed week for our boys. It includes trips to local beauty spots such as Coumshingaun Lake and Mahon Falls waterfall in the Comeragh Mountains, as well as trips to Ardmore and Stradbally beaches.
The boys particularly love Wednesday because they cook sausages in the mountains. Demand for the camp is huge, with queues forming from early morning when booking opens. Feedback from parents is really positive and past pupils who have long since left the school remember their experiences of the camp very fondly.
The camp was established over 20 years ago by our then Principal, Br. Martin. Members of the school staff in St. Stephen’s and those with close connections to the school such as Rose Madigan, Pauline Doyle, Billy Flynn and Br. Frank have been involved since the early years of the camp. Each year some of our past pupils from Transition Year in De La Salle College, Waterford volunteer as support staff for the camp.
In this way the camp reflects a Lasallian Community in the truest possible sense. The camp also very much engenders the five Lasallian core values. The boys cannot wait for 2023!
