St Margaret Ward students respond to community need

Food Bank Collections Summer ‘22

As part of St Margaret Ward’s commitment to the Lasallian value of Concern for the Poor, this term we have been collecting Food and donations for our local Parish Food bank. There has been an amazing response from students so far, with Mr Corrigan’s office regularly full of tins, jars, bags of pasta, rice and lots more! Fidei groups have been contributing together, as well as some amazing donations from individuals and families.

This has really strengthened our relationship with our local parish as well, who have been really grateful for the donations. Prior to the COVID19 lockdowns, the demand for usage of their Food bank was significantly less than what it is now, with around 17 families regularly using the service. Therefore, the efforts of our students to care for those struggling in our community has been really greatly appreciated.
