St Brigid’s Primary School celebrate Patron Saint

St. Brigid’s Primary School, Kildare Town continues to be a hive of activity as we enter into the season of spring.

On February 1st, we celebrated St. Brigid’s Day, which is one of the most important days in our school’s calendar. St. Brigid is the patron saint of Kildare and her Christian values of kindness, respect and appreciation of learning are richly evoked in our school’s mission.

To commemorate Brigid’s legacy, our school collaborated with three other schools in the local area to create a large St. Brigid’s cross, encompassing over 1.500 pupils. This momentous event was covered by national and local media, symbolising the beginning of spring and the relevance of Brigid’s Christian message to our society today (see video: https://tinyurl.com/bdhnpfbv).

Other classes attended mass in the local church on the day, crafted group cloaks and made traditional St. Brigid’s crosses with locally sourced rushes. In other news, after a long hiatus during COVID-19, the music department at St. Brigid’s is busy preparing for their production of ‘The Amazing Adventures of Superstan’, which will run from March 23rd – 25th .

Children from all classes have participated in poster competitions to promote the musical in the local area and the cast are working tirelessly to ensure they deliver a note perfect performance. Stanley Marvel is the world's newest, greatest and most unlikely Superhero.

He may be the clumsiest clot in Megaville, but he's happy to read his comics and dream his life away. Can Superstan crush The Candy King and save the planet? Find out in this fantastic adventure as our helpless Superhero flies by the seat of his pants, faster than a speeding paper aeroplane, and learns that with great power comes great hilarity!

As such, everyone is our school community is eagerly counting down the days for what promises to be a wonderful celebration of the talents that our pupils have to offer. Tickets are available from the school office. Bigí linn!
