Official launch of Lasallian Leavening Fund
The La Salle District of Ireland Great Britain and Malta is thrilled to announce the launch of The Lasallian Leavening Fund – an exciting initiative open to all our Lasallian Schools and Pastoral Centres.
The Fund is a response to the international call to find the peripheries, that is, those most in need, and will give schools and centres, the opportunity to apply for money to create a project that will help our young people understand and act on some of the political, social, economic, spiritual and environmental problems that plague our world today.
The Lasallian Leavening Fund is the result of a call made at the Second District Mission Assembly held in Malta, in February 2023. Taking inspiration from the parable of leaven, the fund will help Young Lasallians to be the agents of change that will bring about a better world.
All schools and pastoral centres in the District are invited to apply for funds for a project that is aimed to be of benefit to students or Young Lasallians, and provides an opportunity to embrace the current District and Global strategy of the Lasallian Mission by promoting awareness and action in relation to:
• The Care of our Common Home
• Those most in need, that is, those on the peripheries
• Catholic Social Teaching
• Spiritual formation among students and Young Lasallians
• And, to do this by promoting the Lasallian Five Core Principles
Schools and centres can apply for funding up to a maximum of €2,000 with projects initially limited to one per school per year. There will be an opportunity to apply for the Lasallian Leavening Fund again next year.
Applications are now being taken, with the aim of funds being granted to start projects at the beginning of the 2024/25 academic year.
