New crest for St Seton’s unveiled

St John’s DLS College, Ballyfermot’s amalgamation with two other local schools, to form St Seton’s Secondary School, has taken another significant step forward with the unveiling of the new school crest.

St Dominic’s College, Caritas College, and St John’s DLS College will be opening the doors of a new school on September 1st, 2022.  The three schools embark on this journey out of their commitment to continue to provide quality education in the community.

Under the joint  trusteeship of the Le Chéile Schools Trust & CEIST (Catholic Education An Irish Schools Trust), this inclusive co-educational Catholic Secondary School, will provide the best of the combined ethos, founding traditions and charism of the Dominican Sisters, the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent De Paul and the De La Salle Brothers, as reflected in the three constituent schools.

In the process of establishing a new crest for the new school, all students were given the opportunity to submit a design.  Four entries were selected and these submissions were the foundation and inspiration for the overall final design.

The school will be operate from St John’s DLS College’s current site and will accommodate 800 students.  Ms Sarah Green was recently appointed as the first Principal.

The Department of Education has approved a grant that will provide additional facilities to include:

Br. Ben Hanlon (Provincial), wishes all at St Seton’s every success and looks forward to a very successful partnership.

“The unveiling of the new school crest is an exciting development and congratulations to all those who took part in its design.

“This is a very important development for education in the Ballyfermot area and the La Salle Province of Ireland, Great Britain and Malta, is very much looking forward to working with the new school and ensuring the young people in the area continue to receive a quality education. Congratulations to Sarah Green on her appointment and we look forward to a strong association with St Seton’s.

“We want to show our gratitude in a special way to St. Johns DLS College’s Principal, Ann Marie Leonard, and all the staff at the College for their commitment to this process and their hard work in the various committees.  This is critically important and foundational work that happens behind the scenes and that can sometimes go unnoticed.  Thank you,” added Br. Ben.

Joe Gilson, Director of Mission added, “We know that St. Seton’s will be sustained and nourished through the coming together of three different traditions and charisms.  That is a great strength and advantage.  We are aware that Ms Green, the Board of Management and the two patron bodies will reflect on how best to manage this vast wealth of experience, resources and opportunities to which leaders, staff and students of the new school will have access.  For our part, as a Lasallian Family, we wish to foster a collaborative and cooperative relationship with the two other Congregations and with the two Patron bodies in the best interest of St Seton’s educational community. We wish every success and blessing on this exciting new educational project. The school will always be invited and supported to feel a sense of belonging to the Irish and international network of Lasallian schools.”
