Memorable start to year at St Benild
The new year got off to a memorable start for students at St Benild School when the Three Wise Men visited on the Feast of the Epiphany, Friday, January 6th.
What an unexpected visit we had! Caspar, Melchoir and Balthasar stopped by our school for a rest and to greet our Lasallian community before continuing their journey. Our pupils enjoyed asking the three Kings so many smart questions! They were flabbergasted at their sight!
St. Benild School's Wishing Wall for 2023
During the first two weeks of January, our pupils and educators built a colourful wall to share their wishes and dreams for the New Year 2023! Through these wishes, one can observe our pupil's innocence, dreams and sensitivity to the world around us!
Eat Me! Theatrical Performance
A dance company was invited at St. Benild School, with the aim of promoting Healthy Eating by means of dance and music. Such theatrical performance surely left a mark on many children who were made to realise that we are what we eat!
Eat Me is an artistic take at communicating about healthy eating and nutrition in a way that leaves a positive impact so they can grow up learning how to eat well.Kids are bombarded with junk food all the time, and unless they’re living on a remote isolated commune in the middle of nowhere, it’s just about impossible to avoid it.
They will see other people eating these foods, they will be given these foods, they will like them, and want more of them. In our best efforts to educate them, when we label foods as bad, unhealthy, or junk, then we could make them feel bad about themselves for enjoying it, and we also set the stage for a classic parent-child power struggle. This is why our approach is to teach them, so they don’t feel bad about sometimes having junk food and enjoying it, but understanding the harmful effects certain foods have if consumed regularly or in abundance.
