Golden treasures created at Castletown Pastoral Centre

In November and December we have had the privilege to welcome many young people to the Castletown Pastoral Centre. For the most part the groups have been Transition Year students but we have also had 6th Year and Prefect groups too.

As part of the day each student is invited to write a prayer and add it to our 'Prayer Treasure Chest'. The individual prayers become united with the prayers of others and become a powerful symbol of the connection we have with each other.

The prayers in the chest come from students from different schools, different age groups and different parts of the country. What the groups have in common is that they have spent time here in Castletown sharing, connecting and reflecting on their journey.

Through the prayer chest in November and December connections have been made with students from Clonaslee (Co Laois), Carnew (Co Wicklow), Portlaoise (Co Laois), Cashel (Co Tipperary), Monasterevin (Co Kildare), Castlecomer (Co Kilkenny), Naas (Co Kildare), Mountrath (Co Laois), Borrisokane (Co Tipperary), Ballinakill (Co Laois)

Irish folklore tells us that crocks of gold can be found at the end of rainbows but we have our own golden treasures here in our Prayer chest.

Wishing you all a prayer-filled Advent.
