Journey to Your Heart programme at Pastoral Centre, Belfast

It is said that the journey from your head to your heart is the longest and most difficult journey to make. This can be the experience of us all so when we rolled out our new programme, Journey to Your Heart, at De La Salle Pastoral Centre, Belfast, many schools were interested in their students taking part.

It is a programme aimed at senior students and adults giving time to reflect on the things that are important in nourishing your heart; music, time shared with friends, nature, reading… Scripture says, ‘Search me oh God and know my heart.’ (Ps 139:23) and again ‘Above all else guard your heart for everything flows from it.’ (Proverbs 4:23) Journey to Your Heart reflects on how we nourish our hearts, where we see God in the world around us, ‘You would not believe the extraordinary view of God from my window’ (Anon), and in the people we meet, ‘Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without knowing it.’ (Heb 13:2)

The programme is facilitated over four one-hour sessions, usually once a week and can therefore be facilitated in school during a class period. Each session includes a scripture meditation and journaling giving the participants practice in a prayer method that can be used at home.

We look forward to facilitating this programme for many more young people, especially in the busyness of life.
