While the primary focus of Br. Armin’s visit will be the celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the St Cassian’s Pastoral Centre in Kintbury, he will also visit our communities/centres in Oxford, St Helens, St Benildus in Dublin and Castletown, Co Laois, Ireland. Br Armin will make a separate visit to Malta at a later stage.

The Superior General will have a packed agenda over the two-week visit that will see him engage with Lasallians throughout Ireland and Great Britain, including Brothers’ Communities, Schools, a Heads and Principals Conference  in Castletown, a retreat in St Cassian’s and engaging with the main  leadership groups in the District.

One of the highlights is certain to be the celebrations at St Cassian’s in Kintbury where Br. Armin will be part of a three-day retreat involving students from all the countries which comprise our District. The retreat begins on Thursday October 17th and concludes  on Sunday 20th.

In looking forward to the visit, Brother Ben Hanlon (Visitor), said that it was a great honour to have Br. Armin as a guest.

“We are delighted to welcome the Superior General in October as it really is a privilege for all Lasallians in our District.

“Br. Armin has been very generous in the amount of time he is giving us and it provides a wonderful opportunity for him to experience the vibrancy of our community by meeting diverse groups of Lasallians.

“Great work has gone into the preparations for this visit and I would like to thank all who have worked so hard over the past number of months to ensure that this will be a successful and memorable one for all”, added Br. Ben.

Br. Armin will arrive in Ireland on Sunday October 13th and will stay with the St Benildus Community before calling to the St John’s Centre and the Le Cheile Offices in Dublin the next day, and then travelling to Castletown in the afternoon.

On Tuesday, he will visit Miguel House Care Community and the Castletown Pastoral Centre, while also meeting with the Irish Brothers.

The Superior General will get the opportunity to connect with Animators and student leaders in Castletown before the start of the District-wide Heads & Principals Conference in the afternoon. Br Armin will also present certificates to the various schools that have been successful in securing funding for their particular Lasallian Leaving Fund project.

The conference will continue on Thursday and will include a keynote address by Br Armin before he departs for St Cassian’s.

The centre in Kintbury will host a special three-day retreat for Year 11 and Transition Year students from Great Britain, Malta, Jersey and Ireland. This will include an address by Br. Armin. The retreat promises to be a very special event.

Monday October 21st will be a rest day for our visitor before he meets with each of the District  leadership teams on Tuesday in Oxford. Br. Armin will travel to St Helens on Wednesday. On Thursday he will visit De La Salle, St Helens and have a meeting with the District Council and Visitors in the afternoon.

Brother Armin will conclude his visit by praying with the St John’s Care Community and then have a farewell dinner with them. A key part of his visit involves meeting each Brother and therefore this is a very fitting end to what promises to be a fruitful time for all.

The visit will conclude on Friday October 25th when Br. Armin will return to Rome.
