Ciara takes over as Principal at St Declan’s

The District of Ireland, Great Britain and Malta, welcomed its newest Principal on Monday October 3rd when Ciara Parris took on the role at St Declan’s Boys National School in Waterford.

Ciara takes over from Kevin Doran who was Principal in the school since 2008, having originally joined the staff in 1993.

A native of Limerick, Ciara trained at Mary Immaculate College in her home county, before commencing her teaching career in London, and most recently worked as a Principal in the city.

It was always her wish to return home to Ireland and having found the perfect fit in St Declan’s she is looking forward to the new challenge.

“I am very excited to be joining St Declan’s where we have a long history and the Lasallian values at its very core. We have a fantastic staff who are dedicated to the boys and their families”, explained Ciara who is keen to continue the great work done at the school in the past.

“It is a privilege for me to take over from Kevin Doran as Principal. He spent 30 years at St Declan’s and is spoken of so fondly by everyone, so I really have big shoes to fill”, she added.
