Students at St Gerald’s embody the Core Principles

Students at St Gerald’s De La Salle College continue to embody the Lasallian Core Principles of Concern for the Poor and Social Justice, along with Respect for All Persons, through their actions that make a tangible difference in our community.

The commitment of our LCA students to supporting Cancer Care West through an obstacle course fundraiser exemplifies our students’ dedication to social justice. Their admirable efforts not only raised €346 but also highlighted the power of solidarity and compassion in addressing critical societal needs. This initiative served as a testament to their organisational and leadership skills, showcasing their willingness to make a positive impact beyond the classroom.

Furthermore, our singers and musicians extended their talents beyond our school walls, bringing joy and harmony to the Sacred Heart Hospital and sharing the gift of music with its residents. Additionally, the heartwarming morning spent at Dunnes, singing carols alongside the students and staff of St. Bríd’s Special School, echoed our commitment to inclusivity and respect for every member of our broader community.

These actions serve as shining examples of how our students embody the Lasallian principles in their everyday lives, fostering a culture of empathy, inclusion, and active engagement in making a positive difference for those around them. Their efforts stand as a testament to the values we hold dear at St. Gerald’s, reflecting our commitment to creating a better, more compassionate world for all.

Faith in the Presence of God

In November, We Remember: In November, our hearts at St. Gerald's were filled with remembrance. We dedicated this month to honour the lives of those who have departed from within the DLS community and our school's close-knit circle - cherished staff members, students, parents, and more.

Traditionally, November beckons us to recall and offer prayers for those we've cherished, those who've journeyed ahead of us. At St. Gerald's, a meaningful space was crafted where every member of our school community could inscribe the names of their dearly departed into the Book of Remembrance. In this act, we perpetuate their legacies and hold dearly onto the memories of those who've touched our lives.

As 2023 draws to a close, let us carry forward the spirit of remembrance and honour, keeping alive the love and impact of those who will forever remain a part of our cherished community.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all in St. Gerald’s DLS College!
