St Peter’s is a hive of activity for Lenten Season

St Peter’s School Chaplaincy department has been a hive of activity this Lenten Season.

We began our journey on Ash Wednesday with services for all year groups from Reception to Sixth Form. Over 1500 staff and pupils received Ashes. We have also tied ribbons to the Cross outside the Chapel as a visible sign to all that the Lenten Season had begun.

Then followed two weeks of special activities with classes visiting the Chapels at both our primary and secondary phases to spend time engaging with interactive prayer stations with reflective activities on the themes of Forgiveness, Reconciliation and Prayer.

We have also had a number of local clergy visiting the school offering the Sacrament of Reconciliation to staff and pupils. Over 200 pupils have received the Sacrament over the past few weeks and many of them have told us what a positive, uplifting experience it was.

We are now busy preparing for our end of term Liturgies which will be based of the Stations of the Cross. Groups of Y10 drama students, along with our Lasallian Leaders, will lead the service and recreate ‘living Stations of the Cross’ through a series of dramatized images in what we are sure will be a moving, thoughtful liturgy for all.
