St Margaret Ward inspired by Vocations month

During the Month of October, all the schools in the Newman Catholic Collegiate, of which St Margaret Ward is a part, joined with the Deanery in praying for Vocations. Students also participated in a session on Vocations, exploring the idea of a vocation and considering their own calling from God, looking at their lives through the Lasallian Value of Faith in the presence of God.

As well as this, each school prayed for one of our Diocesan Seminarians and then on October 22nd, we joined together in prayer for vocations at Mass. It was a wonderful experience to get all the schools together as part of the Newman Catholic Collegiate to pray for vocations.

We are very grateful to Fr Julian and Fr John for celebrating Mass for us. Fr Julian spoke about the meaning of vocation and specifically about the life of St Pope John Paul II, whose feast day was celebrated. JPII lived through so much and yet constantly sought to follow God’s will during his life, something that was inspiring to all of us.

We also heard from Deacon Owen Gresty about the work of our Diocesan Vocations Office, and also heard from a Seminarian about his experience of calling from God. It was a wonderful morning to be a part of and a lovely celebration of Mass, as well as a great way to mark our Vocations month.
