Formation for new teachers at St Benild
Formation for new teachers at St Benild School is one of the many activities taking place to encourage all students and staff to live the Five Core Principles.
Formation Sessions within Lasallian Colleges in Malta (CELAS)
Our newly recruited members of staff are attending monthly Lasallian formation sessions led by Mariella Vella . Like similar sessions taking place at Stella Maris College and De La Salle College, they are held during the school day. Such sessions offer the opportunity for members of staff to explore and reflect on who we are - our Lasallian DNA - our heritage and charism.
The Five Lasallian Core Principles put into action at St. Benild School, Malta
St Benild educators have been working on a 'Positive Behaviour Practices' Policy based on the five core Lasallian Principles. A booklet has been published and shared with the boys through assemblies and in-class discussions. Attractive posters have been put up around the school as visual reminders too. This project has been funded through the Lasallian Leavening Fund. Many thanks to our District for making this possible.
Children's Week at St. Benild School, Malta
International Children's Day originally celebrated on November 20th has been extended to a week this year (November 18th -22nd) at St. Benild School. A jam-packed programme of activities designed especially for our young Lasallian pupils ensured a week with a difference. Spanning from organised games during break, to performances held at school, to a drum workshop and a morning concert during which pupils were invited to perform in honour of the Patron Saint of Music, St. Cecilia.
The message was loud and clear - YOU dear CHILDREN make our world go round!
The Feast of St. Martin de Tours and Maltese Traditional Games
The feast of this great Saint was commemorated through several activities. The life of the Saint was discussed in class, while stations with traditional games were experienced by all pupils. The traditional 'Bag of St. Martin' was prepared for the pupils, by our pupils themselves. Moreover, the elderly within our church community were invited to play with our second graders the traditional game of Bingo. This was one way of putting into action the Lasallian principle of reaching out to others. Let us all keep St. Martin de Tours as our role model - let's keep giving without a thought and let's make others happy.
The Feasts of all Saints and all Souls
To celebrate these feasts, our first graders visited the residents at a nearby elderly home and entertained them by singing 'Oh When the Saints Go Marching in' and other lively songs. Both the children and the residents were all smiles. At St Benild School we aim to instil in our pupils, the sense of belonging to a community and giving service within it - it is in giving that we receive! We were so welcome and the children received so many lovely treats.
