St Joseph’s students inspired by La Salle Foundation

Peter Stemp of the La Salle Foundation had the privilege to join St Joseph's College as part of the Lasallian Awards 2021 celebration, on Monday July 5th.

Based in Rome, at the headquarters of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, La Salle Foundation is the principal development and fundraising department of the congregation. Peter shared the work of the La Salle Foundation, which co-ordinates Lasallian humanitarian response efforts throughout the world.

La Salle Foundation also supports Lasallian schools and educational initiatives in economically fragile areas of the 80-country Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. During his time with St. Joseph's College students, Peter was particularly impressed with the commitment and care for others that the students demonstrated as part of the District-wide Lasallian Awards 2021 initiative, noting:

"This initiative is at the heart of who we are as Lasallians. Through your participation, each of you has identified needs in your local communities and has developed creative and relevant responses to address them. This is exactly what our Global Lasallian Family does in our more than 1,100 institutions in 80 countries, every day. Thank you for what you have done for your communities and we're excited to see what you will do next", he stated.

Theo Arthur, Head of Spirituality at St Joseph’s College, thanked Peter for his time and expressed the wish that students would be inspired to take part in La Salle Foundation initiatives in the future.

“Our Lasallian Award winners really enjoyed online Q&A session with Peter Stemp who spoke of the incredible work the Lasallian organisation is doing in South Sudan, India and Sri Lanka. The meeting produced some enquiring questions and discussion.

“The College thanks Peter for giving us his time and inspiring our students. We hope that in the near future a St Joseph's student will take part in the La Salle Foundation supporting the mission and building better lives for others”, stated Theo.

The La Salle Foundation is pleased to serve as a resource for Lasallians in the District of Ireland, Great Britain, and Malta to learn more about the innovative ways in which our Global Lasallian Family responds to local needs through education.
