St Gerald’s promote Lasallian Values in many ways

All at St Gerald’s De La Salle College in Castlebar continue to showcase the vibrant teaching and learning culture that exists in the school as they find many ways to promote Lasallian Values.

One such initiative is celebrating Safer Internet Day (SID), an EU-wide initiative aimed at promoting a safer online environment, particularly for young people, resonates deeply with our core principle of Respect for All Persons.

On Tuesday, February 6th, 2024, the world observed SID under the theme “Tech in our World”. At St Gerald’s College, we marked this day on Thursday, February 1st, with a series of engaging activities designed to raise awareness and encourage responsible online behaviour among our students.

Our 1st and 2nd-year students received a presentation on the theme “Tech in our World”. This presentation sparked meaningful discussions, allowing students to reflect on the impact of technology on their lives and society at large. The session prompted questions that delved into important topics such as online safety, digital citizenship, and the ethical use of technology - a testament to our commitment to nurturing informed and responsible digital citizens. Furthermore, our 1st-year students actively participated in a poster competition, channelling their creativity to visually express the key messages of Safer Internet Day.

By commemorating Safer Internet Day, SGC reaffirms its dedication to fostering a culture of respect and responsibility online.
