St Gerald’s celebrate international connections

The spirit of camaraderie and cultural exchange filled the air as St Gerald’s De La Salle College Castlebar welcomed our dear friends from the International Lasallian Campus (Istituti Filippin) in Paderno del Grappa, Italy. Arriving on Saturday night, 9th March, twenty-five students, including nine boys and sixteen girls, graced Castlebar with their presence. The nine boys seamlessly merged into our four Transition Year classes for the duration of their stay.

Monday afternoon was filled with exploration as the visiting students embarked on a guided tour of our town, led by local man Ernie Sweeney and Ms Loftus, accompanied of course by the enthusiastic JPIIs.

Tuesday was a highlight as our own 3A and 3D classes embarked on an exciting adventure alongside the Italian students and Ms. Loftus, Ms Duffy, and Ms. Brinklow, to explore the scenic wonders of Ballycastle and Belmullet. Transition Year students also had their moment of fun, engaging in a bowling session at Mayo Leisure Point with our guests from the International Lasallian Campus (Istituti Filippin).

As we bid farewell to our friends from Paderno del Grappa, we reflect on a week filled with laughter, learning, and cultural exchange.
