Spirit of hope evident in Castletown

Over the past few weeks we at De La Salle Retreat Centre in Castletown have been delighted to welcome many groups and the weather, for the most part, has been on our side. This has allowed us to conduct our reflective walks along the newly improved paths around the 'High Field'. The paths have been widened and levelled and these works have definitely enhanced the reflective walking experience. Many thanks to those involved.

As well as our Secondary school retreats, at this time of year, we would normally begin our Confirmation retreats and this year has thankfully been no different.

The Confirmation children bring so many of the Fruits of the Spirit with them to the Centre and their enthusiastic engagement with us and the programme is so affirming.

We have seen an increase in the number of requests from schools for these retreats and teachers are telling us that, after two years of Covid restrictions, it's great to be able to bring the children to us. One teacher commented, that the children have lost out on so much and it's a great sign of hope that they are able to once again bring children to us.

To quote a song often sung at Anfield and Celtic Park, Glasgow, if we 'Walk on with hope in our hearts, we will never walk alone'.

As we walk our new pathways in Castletown with the students, this sentiment has never been more true.

Best wishes
