Promoting inclusion at De La Salle Waterford

We have been working hard here in De La Salle College, Waterford throughout the year on promoting inclusion, and in the approach to both Le Chéile Day, and indeed the Easter holidays, it was a great opportunity to showcase our school on unity in diversity.

It is indeed our students that we are doing all this for, to show them the significance and focus our school has on inclusion, and that everyone is accepted and loved no matter what their difference.

There is so much work going on in our school at the moment, which promotes inclusion. The following are some of the most recent:

1. Our students from the Ukraine

This week we have welcomed our first students from the Ukraine. We are trying our best to make them feel at home. Many of our students have also worked hard on our Ukraine appeal here in the school.

2. Our ASD Special Class - 'The Hub'

This is a new and most welcome addition to our school community. All involved are working tirelessly at promoting inclusion and giving the absolute best to the students.

3.  Our Inclusion Committee

Members of our Inclusion Committee have been involved in choosing the centre flag that we display at the front of the college, as it changes regularly. We have a corridor in our school which displays our 44 international flags, as well as some extra including our traveller and LGBTQ+ flags.

4. Our extra-curricular activities

De La Salle College is widely known for its involvement in numerous extra-curricular activities, from school shows to sports, and what better way to show unity in diversity.
