Nurturing Community Spirit at De La Salle Junior School

The recent CoPE (Community of Professional Educators) session at De La Salle College Junior School, focused on our commitment to professional development and community engagement.

Our journey began with a thought-provoking session led by Mr. Barbieri from the Richmond Foundation. Mr. Barbieri expertly guided us through an exploration of the various stresses inherent in our roles as educators. We delved into strategies for identifying and effectively managing these stresses, equipping ourselves with invaluable tools for personal well-being and resilience.

Building upon this foundation, our second session was a testament to the power of collaboration and service. Teachers, organised by their respective year levels, embarked on a community work session. Each team dedicated time to engage in community service projects of their choice, aligning with the Lasallian Principle of service to others.

This unique experience not only fostered team cohesion but also deepened our connection to the communities around us especially those in the peripheries. As educators, we understand the importance of leading by example, and our commitment to service underscores the values we impart to our students.

The community work session served as a powerful reminder of the profound impact we can have when we come together with a shared purpose. It strengthened bonds among colleagues, nurtured a sense of belonging, and demonstrated our collective dedication to making a positive difference in the world.

Moving forward, let us carry the lessons learned from our CoPE session with us as we navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Let us continue to prioritise our well-being, support one another, and remain steadfast in our commitment to serving others.
