New Headteacher appointed at St Joseph’s, Beulah Hill

Catherine Kane

The District of Ireland, Great Britain and Malta has a new Headteacher in its ranks following the appointment of Catherine Kane to the position at St Joseph’s, Beulah Hill.

The Board of Governors made the announcement this week as a result Catherine will become the first female Headteacher in the college’s 167-year history.

A native of Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, Mrs Kane has been teaching since 2007. She came to St Joseph’s in 2016 where she taught Economics and Business Studies.  Following the departure of David Garrido as Headteacher in August 2021, Catherine stepped into the role of Acting Headteacher.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed being Acting Headteacher since September and feel delighted and privileged to have the opportunity to take on the position of substantive Headteacher. I care deeply about all of the children at St Joseph’s College and for our dedicated staff team and I am determined to ensure that everyone in our school succeeds in a supportive environment rooted in our core value of respect. I am looking forward to working as part of the Lasallian tradition and continuing to drive the school forward through teaching minds, touching hearts, and transforming lives,” stated Catherine.
