Mothering Day and the Crowning of Our Lady at St. Benild School

What a gift to have two mothers -  our earthly mother/guardian and our heavenly mother! In different ways, both types of mothers were remembered and honoured on Friday, 10th May, 2024. Mothers/guardians were showered with cards, gifts and crafts made by the children in class, together with their thoughtful teaching teams. A statue of Mary was crowned by our pupils, following prayers and songs. These are special moments which will remain imprinted in our pupil's heart forever.

 Teacher Appreciation Week

If our Educators were flowers, we would pick each one of them out, one by one. What a beautiful garden of Lasallian educators who deserve APPRECIATION all throughout the scholastic year! Founder's Week is when we shouted it out loud....they make a difference and their love makes our world go round! We tried to show utmost appreciation by showering our educators with thoughtful gifts, thank yous and music!

 Numeracy in Action

What better way to acquire number sense than to put Mathematical concepts in action, through daily activities! Our first graders walked down to a large garden within the neighbourhood and with the aid of well-prepared activities, they applied the knowledge taught and learnt in class in a practical, hands-on manner.

Moreover, when dealing with the topic of money, the pupils were given the opportunity to buy several objects using real coins brought from home. A 'shop' was set up in our school yard....pupils used their number sense and knowledge of coins so as to buy their chosen toy, book or stationery item! They really shopped until they dropped!

Swimming Lessons

They say that when you live on an island, you need to learn how to swim before learning how to walk! Our Junior school invests a lot of time and effort in teaching pupils aged 5 - 11 how to swim, using the correct age-appropriate techniques. Despite not having a pool at school, pupils commute to the National Pool throughout this term and thanks to professional instructors, they exercise in water instead of on ground. A truly enjoyable and beneficial experience for all our Lasallians.
