Malta students join virtual parliament

On Friday June 4th the boys from De La Salle Junior School, Malta, that participated in the Ekoskola 10th Young People's Summit on Friday 14th May 2021, were invited to join a virtual Parliament session.

During this session representatives from various schools around Malta were able to address  their concerns and give suggestions from the Declaration on one of the summit's themes.

Our school delivered a speech about ‘Sustainable Food Consumption’. This speech was delivered by Nathan Grech and Giuseppe Abela, both Year 4 students. Other themes which were addressed in the session were:

·         Marine pollution and loss of biodiversity

·         Urbanism

·         Carbon neutrality and carbon sequestration

Replies to the themes addressed by the students were made by various Members of Parliament as well as the Hon. Prime Minister Dr Robert Abela and also the Hon. Leader of the Opposition Dr Bernard Grech.

Isaac Cachia from Year 4 explains what it meant to him:

During this scholastic year, the Year 4 students of De La Salle College and Żejtun Primary School teamed up together and learned about different Saints and everyday superheroes.

During the online sessions, we took turns, each class telling the other school what the Saints or everyday superheroes did.  Our class did a presentation on our founder, St. John Baptist de La Salle.  I was so proud to explain all about him!

I liked this eTwinning project because it was between Year 4 classes from two different schools. We met other children, we made new friends from the other school, and we all had fun presenting all the work we did together as a class.  I can’t wait for next year!"

Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
