Macroom students enjoy many experiences

Students at De La Salle College have not been short on activities since they returned after the Christmas holidays as they enjoyed science practicals, road safety, creating culinary delights and debating global issues.

Science Practical

Our 2nd Year Science class were getting stuck into a practical class in the new science lab. They were studying the titration of Hydrochloric Acid against Sodium Hydroxide.

Lifesaver Project

Our fourth-year students had a talk about the Lifesaver Project, a new road safety education programme led by members of An Garda Síochána. This programme delivers a powerful and stark portrayal of the realities of road traffic collisions, emphasising the profound impact they have on individuals and families. This engaging session left a lasting impression on our students, instilling in them a deeper sense of responsibility and awareness regarding road safety.

The World's Greatest Sandwich

Michael Dunne showcased his extraordinary culinary creativity during an English class today with his CBA presentation. He decided to make the world's best sandwich. Michael's masterpiece featured succulent chicken from Twomey's Butchers, freshly baked bread from Lynch's Bakery, and a harmonious blend of flavours including Horgan's pepperoni slices, Hellman's mayonnaise, Keogh's crisps, and Charleville Cheese.  His classmates eagerly awaited the opportunity to sample this delicious sandwich, and Teteh Oluwafeyisayomi emerged as the winner of the draw. Well done Michael!

Model United Nations

We're bursting with pride for our 13 students who represented DLS this week at the DC Model United Nations in City Hall. Witnessing our students engage in debating and tackle global issues is truly an achievement that reflects the calibre of our students.

We were represented in two of the conference floors, General Assembly and the Security Council. Congratulations to each one of them – this experience undoubtedly marks a significant milestone in their academic journey.
