Inspirational Macroom students reaching for the stars

At the heart of the Lasallian ethos is the desire to help students use their talents to achieve their potential, and it is a message that has inspired many, including two pupils at De La Salle College Macroom.

Along with being dedicated to their studies, Kian Dineen and Markuss Bogdan are making a name for themselves in their chosen hobbies.

Kian, a 14-year-old Second Year student, has developed his passion or Lego to become recognised as one of Ireland’s top builders and designers.

With a dedicated attic space that houses a variety of creations, including London's Tower Bridge to rollercoasters, lighthouses, and a Scooby Doo mansion, Kian is also creating his own design which he hopes will become an official Lego project.

For a number of years now he has been touring with the Brick Shows Ireland group, a team that travels across the country to showcase impressive Lego builds and give workshops to Irish children.

Meanwhile, all in the school are very proud of the achievements of Third Year student Markuss Bogdanovs who won silver and bronze medals, competing at the Wako European kick boxing championships, in Istanbul recently.

Markuss brought in both his medals to school. It is an amazing achievement to win medals at European level. It is no surprise to anyone in DLS Macroom, as Markuss is a dedicated and hard working young man.
