Founder’s Day at St Benild School

St Benild School, Malta, shared in the celebrations of Founder’s Day, an occasion that encourages Lasallian Schools, locally and internationally, to reunite so as to honour a common Founder: St. John Baptist de La Salle.

This year, this was done virtually through the Lasallian Awards Ceremony held on Friday, May 14th for which all the six classes connected with the Lasallian District of Ireland, Great Britain, and Malta and followed the event with great enthusiasm.

On Monday May 17th, the day was jam packed with activities related to our Founder, including attending the class 'cinema'. On this day, a short film entitled 'The Life of St. John Baptist de La Salle' was aired. The boys enjoyed indulging into their popcorn after presenting their cinema ticket. This was followed by a Quiz about the Founder, as well as some dancing to 'Live it up -  Lasallian Flash mob'. Each and every child, created his own Lasallian Identity Card, featuring the Five Core Principles, as well as a photo, name and signature. The pupils also had the opportunity to create various crafts related to the Founder. The families were given a cloth bag featuring photos of all our pupils and members of staff. Moreover, all pupils who participated in the Lasallian Awards were presented with a certificate.

A 'Happy Founder's Day' Greetings card was exchanged on the day between all Grade 1 and 2 pupils attending St. Benild School and De La Salle College. These were prepared way in advance and were kindly delivered by our Director for Lasallian Colleges, Mr Stephen Cachia

The customary ice-cream given to all pupils and members of staff was much anticipated by all. This was a welcome treat in between the various activities.

Despite all the restrictions, our school offered a varied and exciting programme which suited the likes of all our Lasallian Community.

Mother's Day 2021

May is synonymous with Mothers; both earthly and heavenly.

At St. Benild School, Malta we celebrated this special occasion by connecting online with all the mothers of our pupils. During this ceremony, pupils crowned the statue of Our Lady, which is situated in the school playground. Every child prepared a paper flower for Mary and presented it on the day. Moreover, the mothers enjoyed watching a video clip showing photos of themselves with their son.  Some mothers ended up in tears!

Each class recorded a song or poem put up by the pupils, which was then shared with the mothers during the weekend. Meaningful, handmade gifts prepared in class were appreciated by all mothers. Such memories will always hold a special place in our school community's heart, especially in the heart of all the Mothers.
