Exploring intentional community idea at Kintbury

Responding to calls for the Lasallian Family to create Intentional Lasallian Community experiences, a group of over 20 Lasallians, Brothers and Partners, gathered at St. Cassian's on Sunday, October 2nd to pray together, get to know each other, talk and dream, and share a meal.

The group was made up of Brothers and Partners who live in Oxfordshire and surrounding areas. It was a wonderful moment of communion and fraternity and hopefully the start of future similar gatherings around the District.

Siân Thomas-Cullinan attended with her husband Tom and shared her feelings on the event:

"This initial gathering brings great promise to our District as we embrace one another's realities and adapt to the needs of our Brothers and Partners. It was a glimpse of the future and a dream becoming reality in many ways as my faith and service to the network was once again aligned with community.

“This intentional gathering felt like an explanation of what together and by association truly means and both Tom and I are hopeful and excited about what is to come."

Emma Biggins, one of the organisers of the gathering was also delighted with how the day went:

Emma Biggins added: It was great to see the idea of an Intentional Lasallian Community come to fruition. An opportunity to re-connect with old  friends and colleagues, meet new people, spend time with the Brothers, and to share our stories.

“We had some great ideas for moving forward and are looking forward to our next get together.”

From those gathered a group of volunteers have offered to continue to build the community. The next gathering is scheduled for November 27th and will offer an Advent Reflection.
