Experiencing the Lasallian Values at St Benild

All at St Benild School are continuing to experience the Lasallian values over the past few weeks as they had a welcome walk for Lasallian families, and learning about helping those in need during Mission Week, while also welcoming a special visitor.

Welcome Walk and Picnic

On Sunday, 22nd October, a welcome walk and picnic was orangised for all our Lasallian families - old and new! For this event we asked Birdlife Malta to prepare a nature walk with the aim of offering a fun and educational experience in the midst of nature.

Birdlife volunteers, assisted the group along the trail and were available to answer any nature-related questions. It is also an opportunity to raise funds for nature-related activities, whilst getting to know each other better out of school and in a relaxed atmosphere.

"He came down from Heaven!" claims a pupil at St. Benild School, Malta

During the first week of October, Saint Francis of Assisi and his love for animals was discussed amongst our young pupils in class. This was followed by a special visit - a Franciscan friar on the 4th of October. Much in awe, seeing the friar in habit, our inquisitive minds wondered how the saint came to life! Innocence truly tinctures all things with brightest hues!

Mission Week at St. Benild School, Malta

A child-friendly leaflet, explaining this year's Mission week project was shared amongst our pupils. This year, donations will be going to Keelamudiman, India - a Lasallian Project, in which a Brother from our District, Bro Tom Walsh is strongly involved. The idea is that children work for / earn money for the missions and are not simply given the money from parents. The leaflet encourages the boys to do chores and be given money each time.

To complement this leaflet, the children also had the opportunity of meeting Bro. Tom Walsh online during a school assembly and asking him questions about the project. Moreover, our Lasallian community will also have the opportunity to connect with the principal of the school running the project in India, Bro Jeevagar. So far, and yet so close to our heart!
