DLS Jersey praised for helping Monty secure dream job

The support and guidance of De La Salle College, Jersey, has been credited with one former student landing his dream job with the Mercedes Formula One racing team.

De La Salle College Jersey is delighted to celebrate Monty Jeacock Fewtrell’s achievement in being appointed Test & Development Engineer, Mercedes Formula One.

In sharing the good news, Monty’s parents were quick to acknowledge the part played by De La Salle College as they said, “we are so grateful for the energy and success from De La Salle which enabled him to realise his dreams; without his suite of DLS results and the confidence he has built, we are sure he wouldn’t have been able to obtain such a prestigious role.”

The new role comes on the back of a his outstanding achievements at Loughborough University. Monty won the Ford Final Year Automotive Engineering Award for having the highest degree mark; he left Loughborough University with a Master’s Degree, Automotive Engineering. First Class Honours.

At University he led the Loughborough University Formula Student programme for two years where students design, build and race a single seat racing car. The team and car outperformed expectations and his personal contribution was thought to have been a factor in securing the role at Mercedes Formula One. He also worked hard to promote the racing car (an integral part of the programme) and photo 3 shows the car being displayed (with his Mum and Dad), for a week, at the RAC headquarters in Pall Mall, London, which was an incredibly prestigious achievement and a first for the Formula Student programme.

These photos show Monty with the World Champions’ Constructors trophy taken last year when they secured this for the seventh time. The second photograph is with Lewis Hamilton’s Championship winning car, among an abundance of trophies. The third photo shows Monty with his parents and the car that he had been involved with designing, building and racing as part of the Loughborough University Formula Student programme.
