Br. Edward honoured with national award

The impact of the Lasallian Values on our District was highlighted once again this week when Br. Edward Galea was recognised with one of the most prestigious national awards in Malta.

As part of this year's Republic Day Honours List, held on Tuesday December 13th, Bro Edward has been decorated with the Midalja għall-Qadi tar-Repubblika.

Br. Edward is a hugely respected educator with a passion for the Lasallian Mission, and has made an impact on thousands of students in Malta. He has long been highly respected in the Lasallian Family and beyond, and this award recognises his achievements in inspiring those entrusted to his care.

The following tribute has been paid by De La Salle College, Malta:

Alone we can do so little; Together, we can do so much - The essential thing that makes it all worthwhile - The Lasallian Community! Nowadays, we are so immersed in our hectic lives that sometimes we forget how lucky we are to be part of this great Lasallian family. A family that shares memorable moments and celebrates together.

This week was a special week for the Lasallian community at De La Salle College Junior School as we celebrated Brother Edward's achievement on a national level. The gratitude, admiration and respect earned from thousands of students who, over the years, have benefited from his care at De La Salle College are a concrete testament to Bro Edward's zeal as an educator and the commitment to the Lasallian mission and charism; however, we are so proud and grateful that in this year's Republic Day Honours List, held on Tuesday 13th December 2022,  Bro Edward has been decorated with the Midalja għall-Qadi tar-Repubblika. Honneuer a tois Brother.

You make us proud and grateful for having you as our shining light and example! Apart from the numerous messages, phone calls and interviews on local Television, the Lasallian community had the opportunity to celebrate Bro Edward's achievement during the monthly breakfast prepared by one of the year groups for all staff members.

This year, De La Salle College Junior students, along with Bro Edward and all Lasallian educators, are also planning a massive Christmas celebration in the gym that will include all 600 students in the junior school after the pandemic forced the suspension of all academic activities.
