At Night of unforgettable talent at Churchtown
De La Salle College Churchtown hosted its bi-annual Talent Show, a spectacular evening that celebrated the diverse talents of our students, on November 21st. The sold-out event drew a packed crowd, with standing room only, as each act delivered an exceptional performance, making it a night to remember.
The panel of judges - radio host Dara Quilty, Republic of Loose member Declan Quinn, and creative director Danielle of D.D.A and KidzCamp Dublin - had the unenviable task of deciding the winners. Charismatic MC Conail Boyd kept the evening lively, engaging the audience between performances.
The ultimate winner was Michael Gan, whose breath-taking piano performance of Laufey’s "Nocturne" earned him top honours. Joint second place was awarded to Jake Curry for his moving rendition of Frank Sinatra’s "My Way" and to the trio of Zac L., Lara, and David Sheldreck for their vibrant band performance of Nabokov's "505." Third place went to Luigi, whose performance of Coldplay’s "Viva la Vida," blending guitar and vocals, captivated the audience.
The evening featured a range of remarkable acts. Luke Crimmins delivered an electrifying drum solo of "Pull Harder" by Trivium, while Katie O’Brien and Inti’s duet of Laufey’s "From the Start" was both soulful and heartfelt. The band Sapolar wowed with their original piece, "Path of No Return," and Miranda, Lara, Adrian, and Oisín performed a powerful cover of Nirvana's "Come as You Are."
Other standout performances included Andrea’s piano piece "Golden Hour" by JVKE, and Samuele’s emotional rendition of Tom Odell’s "Another Love" on piano and vocals. The show closed with a fun and energetic performance of Taylor Swift’s "22" by Nondu and the Swifties.
Behind the scenes, the event’s success was made possible by the dedicated efforts of staff and students alike. A special thank you goes to Aisling, Mark, Emile, Mick, and the backstage crew. Gavin also added a unique touch with his guitar playing, further elevating the evening.
This Talent Show was a true testament to the extraordinary abilities of our De La Salle students. With such an incredible showcase of talent, we can’t wait to see what the 2026 event has in store
