Anti-bullying week at DLS Junior School

De La Salle College Malta, Junior School, held an Anti-Bullying Week and Children’s Day with the aim of spreading the Love like Disney and making a noise about bullying.

The week-long programme was designed to cultivate a culture of kindness and combat bullying within a school setting. The schedule spanned a variety of activities, beginning with daily assemblies that emphasised random acts of kindness, the celebration of Children's Day, and the exploration of anti-bullying themes through Dumbo movie clips.

A verbal pledge led by the assistant heads incorporated physical movements, and optional classroom activities included a mirror exercise, role-playing scenarios, and the impactful "Crumpled Paper" activity, vividly illustrating unkind words' lasting effects.

In addition to these activities, there was a focus on incorporating Disney elements, such as a visual pledge involving decorated microphones, a Disney-themed poster competition, and the use of friendship cards. The week's conclusion involved announcing the winner of the poster competition and a video wrap-up summarising the highlights of the antibullying week.

Optional classroom activities further contributed to the overarching theme of kindness. Initiatives like the "Snowball of Kindness," "Mirror in a Box," "Mirror Affirmation Station," and various role-playing and imagination exercises aimed to promote self-kindness and empathy.

The programme sought to leave a lasting impact by encouraging students to consider the consequences of their actions and words, fostering a school environment characterised by compassion and understanding.
