Andrew displays his talent for poetry

Andrew Greenhalgh

Andrew Greenhalgh

Andrew Greenhalgh works at De La Salle School in St Helens as an IT engineer and surprised us all on our return from lockdown by sharing a talent that none of us knew he had - a gift for writing poetry which highlights observations, emotions, moments and encounters that he has experienced over the years.

Each poem is simply given a number, this is to not sway the reader into making an assumption or pre-conceived idea about the message that each poem contains but rather leaves the interpretation open and for the words to speak to the reader’s heart.

As a school community we warmly and whole-heartedly value the gift that Andrew has shared and we see so much potential in each of the reflective poems as being used across our Lasallian network as prayer stimulus, reflective activity starting points with young people or simply as words to meditate on and explore personally.

Andrew’s book, ‘Simple Words for a More Elegant Time’ is available to purchase on Amazon, Book Depository and Blackwell’s, and has already made its way to several different countries in the world.
