World Children’s Day at De La Salle Junior School Malta

During the week of November 14th-18th, students from all year groups in De La Salle College Junior School, Malta, took part in several activities related to anti-bullying and children’s rights. This year, during a special ceremony held in the gym, we also took a pledge against bullying as we highlighted the importance of accepting each other.

Just like our patron saint, St. John Baptist de La Salle, we must follow in his path and adhere to the five Lasallian core principles. Our aim, as Lasallian educators, is to make sure that first and foremost, our students feel safe and happy in the school environment.

Like in the past few years, the Lasallian educators at De La Salle College Junior School and the Animation Team along with the Senior Leadership Team ended this special week on November 18th, with a fun day full of activities to celebrate World Children’s Day. Students started off the day with a special class breakfast and were given some juice.

On the day, the students were also encouraged to wear their favourite football gear to celebrate the unity also represented through a sport event which attracts the interest of many of our students; the World Cup. On the day, all Junior School students participated in eight activities which included bouncy castles, bowling lanes, mega slides, obstacle races and musical chairs.

For the first time, after the number of Covid measures we had to implement during the past two years, we also invited some parents and guardians to help us during this event, as volunteers. This was a unique experience for all of us. In the end, the students were given a small token to commemorate celebrating this wonderful day, as we believe that children should always be celebrated.
