Summer catch-up programme at St Benild

Teachers at St Benild School, Malta, once again displayed their commitment to students by hosting a catch-up programme during the summer holidays.

Thanks to extensive, self-sacrificing efforts, our Lasallian School ensured a quality education to its community even during scholastic year 2020-2021, with all its challenges.

Nevertheless, different extents of learning loss have inevitably impacted individual learners for very different reasons. With this in mind St Benild School has organised a Summer Catch-Up Programme to mitigate and address the gaps that have resulted from learning loss.  This programme was funded by the Ministry of Education.

The programme covered basic work in three core subjects: Mathematics, English and Maltese Language. The children had the opportunity to revisit work covered in class throughout the scholastic year, which for one reason or another they might have missed out on.

The seven-week programme came to an end on Thursday, September 9th, with the children being awarded an ice-lolly and a meaningful bookmark. This has been a very enriching project, which hopefully will reap its fruit in the coming scholastic year.

Parents of pupils attending this programme were very appreciative.  This can be witnessed in one of these photos showing a 'Thank you' card written by a parent.
