St Margaret Ward Founder’s Day celebrations

As part of our celebrations of Founder’s Day at St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy, our Lasallian Award winners joined the District service and received their awards.

We also discussed as a group what they enjoyed and what they learned from the experience of participating. They spoke about doing things like having a fun day out with family to Alton Towers and how it brought them closer together, the importance of using reusable cutlery for the environment and making a small change is important.

As well as this a number of our students wrote letters to neighbours who live alone, one mentioned how their neighbour cried on receiving the letter and this taught the student the importance of inclusivity, looking out for others and a new understanding of other people’s lives and the struggles they face. Another student said that participating in the Lasallian Awards helped them to appreciate their education more and that they really enjoyed helping others. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that really helped the students live out the Lasallian values.

As well as this, our staff and students spent the morning registration period writing thank you cards to other members of our school community to spread positivity and gratitude to others. Students were also given a lollipop to celebrate and staff had scones with cream and jam to celebrate together.
