St Declan’s embrace Christmas Kindness Initiative

In December, all pupils at St Declan’s National School Waterford, from Junior Infants to Sixth Class, took part in the carepack.ie Christmas Kindness Initiative. The purpose of this initiative was to raise awareness of the members of our community who are nursing home residents, to give charitably and selflessly; and to put a smile on someone’s face.

Each class kindly collected money to purchase a gift for an allocated nursing home resident somewhere in Ireland. Gifts were thoughtfully chosen, messages written, packages carefully wrapped and delivered all before Christmas.

In total, more than 42,000 residents of Irish Nursing Homes benefited from the carepack.ie initiative in 2023. A similar number of residents are expected to be surprised with gifts and cards this Christmas. We have taken part in this project each  year since 2021and St Declan’s are so proud to have been part of it again this year.
