Sporting success for De La Salle Downpatrick

On a showery wet Tuesday De La Salle High School Downpatrick made the journey to Antrim Centre of Excellence grounds Dunsilly along with the great support of players, family and friends from Year 8+9 pupils.

The pupils knew they were in for a tough Br Sharkey Cup match from the beginning facing an experienced GAA side from Cross and Passion College in Ballycastle. Throughout the game De La Salle showed great spirit and determination from the throw in with Conor Dowd and Oisin Hanna in at midfield. Great teamwork from the half forward line supported the midfielders from Leo Noble, Padraig Sloan and Ben Shaw. Padraig Sloan had an impressive score line of 2-4, with Leo Noble and Ben Shaw also supporting that impressive score line with 1-2  and 1-1 respectively. The full forward line battled hard to work the ball into some excellent scores from Thomas McCrissican, Callum McCargo and Eoin Keenan.

The defence worked tirelessly to ensure a low score record was kept, starting from Jack Polly in nets who saved some excellent shots to keep the opposing score at a minimum throughout. Oisin McFall, Conall Black and Dara Sharvin supported Jack in his defence keeping pressure on Cross and Passion boys from scoring. Midfielders were Jack Hynds, Ryan Conway and Dara Convie who supported all across the field.

Well done to all who participated in the game and came on as substitutes. A fantastic game for a fantastic group of pupils.
