Lasallian volunteers build classrooms in India

Five Lasallian volunteers from the District are answering the call to help those on the peripheries by travelling to India to help provide classrooms in a rural school.

Robyn Whelan, Kenneth Giles and Dylan Sweeney – all from Ardscoil La Salle Raheny – have joined Auxiliary Visitor Br Tommy Walsh and Tom O’Neill (MEL Ireland) on the three-and-a-half week trip, that is certain to make a huge difference to the lives of the local children.

Over the past number of months they have been raising money for the construction of eight classrooms at in Keelamudiman, Tamil Nadu, India.

It's a Lasallian School in a rural area. The cost of the  project is €161,000 and will be of huge benefit to the school which is situated in a rural area.

As the five volunteers prepared to fly out from Dublin Airport on Wednesday June 26th, they expressed their thanks to all who have so generously supported the project.
