Lasallian Awards one of the highlights of Founder’s Week

The Lasallian Family across the District is putting the finishing touches to preparations for Founder’s Week with the official celebration taking place on Friday May 13th.

A number of events will take place over the course of the week and one of the highlights is undoubtedly the culmination of the second annual Lasallian Awards. The service will take place on zoom at 10am (Lon/Dub) with all Schools, Pastoral Centres and Brother’s communities invited to attend. We hope this will be a powerful shared moment to give thanks and celebrate our Founder St John Baptist de La Salle and the important work that is continued every day, along with the wonderful achievements of our young people through the Lasallian Awards.

Throughout Founder’s week, a resource of suggested activities will be available for all to use and adapt which will further explore and celebrate our Founder through a theme of ‘The Lasallian Ripple Effect’. We encourage all to consider the ripples that have been created in their lives through key people, encounters, moments, decisions and how they seek to live their life with purpose and meaning as they journey through school.

The Founder’s day service will include a lottery draw for the Lasallian Awards which sees all participants being entered in a draw with the category prizes as follows – Gold (Apple iWatch), Silver (£100/€100 gift voucher), Bronze (£50/€50 gift voucher).

The Lasallian Awards initiative was introduced in 2021, with the initial concept offered from St Simon Stock and then as a result of collaboration of all three Mission Committees, the District Mission Council and the District Young Lasallian Council. The aim of the Lasallian Awards initiative was to raise awareness of the Lasallian Ethos and the 5 Core Principles, among the students and the rest of the educational communities at Lasallian ministries in a practical and engaging way.

Of course, this would not be possible at all without the incredible efforts and support of staff and students, it is due to this passion and enthusiasm that the Lasallian Awards continue to be a success. Last year, a total of 1565 entries were received from District schools, comprising 230 Gold Awards, 208 Silver Awards and 1127 Bronze Awards.

We wish all those working hard for their entries to the Lasallian Awards and we would love to see some photographs of students in action or of the things that are created so that we can celebrate all achievements across the District during this special day. Please send any photographs to eunanwhyte@lasalleigbm.org and we will share them on our website and social media.
