Flame Congress proves to be an inspiration for all

The District of Ireland, Great Britain and Malta was very well represented at the recent Cymfed Youth congress – Flame, which was held in Wembley on Saturday March 4th.

The theme of Flame 2023 takes the WYD Scripture “Mary arose and went with haste” and crystalises it into the theme, “Rise Up!”.

Auxiliary Visitors, Br Michael and Br Tommy, attended along with a number of schools and also present was Issy Cording from St Cassian’s, Kintbury, who reflected on a wonderful experience.

“The day was a great opportunity to network and meet new people in our Catholic community.

Rap artist Guvna B attended the event, and we were all encouraged to wave our torches to the  music which lit Wembley Arena up beautifully.

The day was focused on 'Rising up' and finding our purpose, recognising people who may be angels, encouraging us to rise up and a reminder that we are all significant.

Members of Newcastle and Hexam youth team carried a statue of Our Lady in the first procession starting our day, reminding us of our theme to follow Mary's example and rise up to answer God's call.

There were many inspirational talks throughout the day including one from Cardinal Tagle who is appointed Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples by Pope Francis.”
