District represented at European Lasallian Training Course

RELEM (Lasallian Region of Europe and the Mediterranean) has launched a 12-month pilot Formation of Formators programme. The first in-person phase was hosted by the District of Ireland, Great Britain and Malta and ran from Monday 27th June to Friday 1st July at the Lasallian Pastoral Centre in Mellieha. Participants in this pilot project are from France, Belgium, Poland, Ireland, England and Malta.

The first phase was facilitated by Br. Aidan Kilty (emeritus General Councilor with responsibilities for Europe and the Mediterranean), Br. Rey Mejias (Sectary for Formation, Rome) and Joe Gilson (Director of Mission, District of Ireland, Great Britain & Malta). The primary focus of this phase was to introduce the Institute’s new framework for formation, Lasallian Formation for Mission: A Pilgrim’s Handbook.

Before concluding their time in Malta, participants were asked to identify a formation experience/programme in their local contexts they would like to work on during 2022-2023. Participants will be following up on these projects during the second phase of this Formation of Formation programme that will take place between September 2022 and June 2023. During this time, participants will also have three online modules to complete and will be supported through an on-sight visit by one of the trainers on the programme.

The 12-month training process will conclude with a second in-person meeting in June 2023. This third and last phase of the training will take place in Malta between June 26th and June 30th 2023.
