District mourns the passing of Pope Francis

All in the District of Ireland, Great Britain and Malta, join our colleagues across the globe in mourning the passing of our beloved Holy Father, Pope Francis, who returned to the house of the Father this Easter Monday, 21 April 2025, at the age of 88.

As announced by Cardinal Kevin Farrell from the Casa Santa Marta, Pope Francis died peacefully this morning, after a prolonged illness, dedicating his final years—as he did his entire life—to the service of the Church, the poor, and the message of God's boundless love. May he rest in peace
